Gardening Workshop
Short Course Description:
A hands-on organic gardening workshop at Participation Park (1100 Forrest St.)
A weekly Gardening Workshop at Participation Park (1100 Forrest St. between Biddle and Chase one block West of Greenmount Ave.) The workshop will be very hands-on, focusing on the basics of organic gardening (soil preparation, planting seeds, weeding, watering, composting, harvesting etc.) Participants will have the option of maintaining their own individual plot or working on the larger communal garden. We will meet at 2 pm on Saturday afternoons beginning March 20.

I was actually really very eager to learn and attend some kind of gardening training or classes . This workshop here at participation park seems to be the right spot for me to learn some gardening tips . I am actually looking forward to attend the class and create a roof top garden at my home . There is a great website - http://growit.umd.edu/ - it is a volunteer run program through the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources - run by "Master Gardeners". The website has some great documents - including 1) which variety of vegetables grow best in Maryland, 2) how to get soil tested, etc.
Also, there are free classes in each county (and in Baltimore City) including: Basic Vegetable Gardening, Advance Gardening Techniques, Composting, How to Grow Great Tomatoes, etc. I attended a class in Howard County and the presenter had been gardening for over 20 years and provided a lot of great information about gardening in Maryland.
