Revolutionary Hip Hop

What is hip hop? How did it start? We'll discuss definitions of hip hop, and it's history. We'll also look at the politics of popular culture and dance music, who profits in music sales, and examine the critical cultural analyses of revolutionary hip hoppers. Every third class we'll have a guest speaker/ revolutionary hip hopper perform and speak about why they do what they do.
