Yoga for Ex-Offenders is a resource for formerly incarcerated people who would like free assistance for well-being.  Persons are released with little to no help or instruction on self-care. We are expected to get work, schooling, pay debts and more and "fit-in" under a mountain of restrictions (parole, probation, loss of rights, etc). The volume of restraints makes one's own care difficult, the success of re-entry improbable and the likelihood of recidivism high, 40% within 3 years in Maryland.  In Yoga for Ex-Offenders, participants will learn tools for well-being they possess within themselves and benefits of a regular yoga practice. A mind-body connection will be emphasized through poses, breathing exercises, and meditation. You need not be flexible, strong, coordinated or require any special skills or gear for the class.  All that is needed is your body and the earth, something we all have!   This class is being taught by a yoga practitioner who is a former inmate of Maryland's Correctional Institute for Women seeking criminal justice reform.
